We went to pick apples today, at a local farm. We had a great time, and only got rained on a little bit.
The trees were laden with fruit. Caleb's friend James came with us (he's the one jumping to get an apple).
The boys said all the apples were good, though the Spartan ones were a favorite. We picked Red Delicious, Jonathans, Spartans, and Cortlands. We also got some of my favorite pears, Starks.
I wore my Notre Dame De Grace sweater, since I thought it was a bit chilly (though Caleb insisted on wearing his shorts). I love the sweater, though I think I could have made it a size smaller yet. Even though I took 2.5" off the sleeve length, I could've taken another inch. Connor had a blast running through the orchard.
A day picking apples means apple pie for dessert in the evening. Yummy! I plan to make applesauce in the crock pot tomorrow.
That pie does look good! Glad you had a wonderful day with the boys!
ReplyDeleteWow, whoever said that being a mother isn't a full-time job clearly hasn't met you. That pie looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteYou make a gorgeous pie! My crust never looks that good! Is that a straight apple pie or did you mix in another type of fruit?
ReplyDeleteI love apple pie and yours looks fantastic. So far I've made an upside down apple cake with our apples. The kids snack on them with peanut butter more than anything. I wish I could've had some of your pie!
ReplyDeleteOoh, yummy pie!! How cool to pick apples, too. I have a tree in my back yard! And a peach tree!!
ReplyDeleteHow surprised am I to find another WFB knitblogger?? I was checking out the Schwartz's group on Ravelry, trying to suck up my courage to attend on Tuesday, and stumbled into you. Great blog! Hope to meet you ftf!
ReplyDeleteWow! I never thought of cooking the apples in the crock pot. What a great idea. Thanks Cherrie
ReplyDeleteOh, I want a piece!
