Sonja

Our dog Sonja died a little over an hour ago, with me by her side telling her it was ok to go, and that I'd see her on the other side. She had been acting lethargic and not eating since Saturday. I took her in to the animal emergency clinic and they said that she was probably in renal failure. They wanted to keep her overnight and do more diagnostic testing, but I opted to bring her back home, keep her comfortable, and let her be with her family.
She would have been 10 in early November. Sonja was a great dog, loved chasing tennis balls, and loved her boys (though I was her favorite. ^_^). I am going to miss her very much.

(and for those of you that know us -- I cannot believe that my scrawny, pathetic looking 18 year old cat that looks like she has been at death's door for the past few years has outlived this dog!)

That is so sad. I've been there, so I understand where you're coming from. I remember your cat- that is surprising that she's still around- she didn't look too spry 2 years ago!

Ohhh... I am so sorry. I wish I could change this for you, but I know I can't. All the joy she brought you is worth the pain of her passing. It is good you were with Sonja; good for all of you.

Oh Linda, that's so terribly sad. I remember when you got her and Caleb chose her name. She was a good dog and she had a great life with your family. You handled it with grace. My thoughts are with you and the boys...all four of them. Love, Cheryl

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to say goodbye (even temporarily), to Sonja. I am happy that she was able to spend her last few hours at home, with her family, surrounded by your love. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.
Take care of yourselves,
Gwen

Oh Linda, I'm so sorry about Sonja.

I have an idea of how much your heart must hurt, as we had to let go our 16 year old Calvin kitty this weekend, too.

Here in our home, we're trying as hard as we can to remember the years and years of good times we had with our guy with the hopes of easing some of the acute pain of losing him. Works a little. :-/ I hope you're able to find some comfort in warm memories of Sonja, too.

Hugs to you and your family. I'll be thinking of you.

Oh, I'm so, so sorry. I know how it hurts... but she was a lucky dog. What a great and loving family she had.

We keep only one dog at a time, and I understand the pain of losing the great family companion. I am so sorry for you and your children.
